She was first introduced to electronic darts in the fall of 2003 when her brother-in-law needed a substitute for one of the bar's dart teams. Kay agreed but was very nervous about it. At the end of the night everyone thought she played great and she was asked to be on the team.
In the summer of 2004 she started playing the traditional steel tip game as her game began to develop. She started branching out and traveling more and farther to play tournaments. Just seven months later she earned her first ADO National Playoff for the National Cricket Championships in Las Vegas. She advanced to the semi-finals before bowing out to eventual champion, American legend Marilyn Popp. Kay points to this event as where she gained the confidence needed to compete at the highest levels of the sport of darts.
She has been a force on the American tour since, finding much success in both steel tip tour and electronic darts events. She has advanced to several ADO National Playoffs and in 2013 finished as National Runner Up in Cricket to another gifted soft and steel tip player, Paula Murphy.
Shortly after that event Kay was diagnosed with breast cancer. Kay is thankful to have a great support system in place in her family and friends. After having two surgeries and radiation treatment, Kay has come back strong and is determined to enjoy life.
Kay believes in doing what you love and loving what you do, and she really loves to play darts. After a few months break from darts while treating her illness, Kay quickly proved she still has what it takes winning, her first event of 2014 at the prestigious Rae Chesney Memorial.
When she's not playing darts, Kay enjoys just spending time with family and friends. She loves making new friends along the way. She likes watching all kinds movies or just hanging out on her patio enjoying life. As it turns out, Kay is quite special indeed.
