October was another big month in the land of the Kryptonite Girls with players all over the globe.
Paula Murphy was in Japan at the World Cup. Sandy Hudson won the Winmau 501
National Championship in Myrtle Beach and qualified for the 2018
America's Cup in Trinidad and the big Halloween themed
tournaments in New Hampshire and South Carolina.

WDF World Cup
Paula Murphy represented America in the World Darts Federation's World Cup held in Kobe, Japan. The US Team was comprised of Paula, Cali West, Carole Herriott, Lisa Ayers, Tom Sawyer, Robbie Phillips, Billy Squires and Joe Chaney. Paula managed a Top 16 finish in Singles 501 dropping a tough 7 leg match against Aileen De Graf and finished Top 32 in Doubles 501.
ADO America's Cup National Playoff
Sandy Hudson and Kay Hoover were on hand for the ADO's America's Cup National playoff. Sandy was able to qualify while Kay fell just short finishing tied for 3rd Place. For Sandy it will be her third straight America's Cup team winning the Gold Medal in 2014 and the Silver in 2016. She will join Lisa Ayers, Larry Butler and Tom Sawyer in Trinidad next year as they try to win back the Cup.
Colorado Open
Denver, CO is home one of America's best tournaments, the Colorado Open who again hosted the ADO's US Team Nationals. Five "out of towners" joined local girl Stacey Pace and produced great results all weekend long.
Paula Murphy won 3 Titles and the "MVP" award. Paula won 501 Singles, 501 Doubles and Mixed Triples. She was also 2nd in Cricket Doubles and Top 8 in Cricket Singles. Stacey and Sandy Hudson teamed up to win Doubles Cricket and finish 2nd in 501 Doubles. Stacey finished Top 16 in 501 and Cricket Singles while Sandy won the 101 Warm-up Singles and finished Top 4 in Singles 501 and Cricket. Jenifer Mounts also had a nice weekend with a 2nd Place finish in Mixed Triples, a Top 8 in 501 Singles and Top 16 in Doubles Cricket. The Ohio K-girls Marlise Kiel and Kay Hoover were on hand with Marlise recording three Top 8 finishes in Mixed Triples and 501 Singles and Doubles. Thanks to Corrine Davis I have Led Zeppelin on mind mind today, hence the title. Other K-Girls in action this month included Valerie Goad and Morgan McCormack at a local event in Dallas, TX for the Fun Days Tournament where they won Ladies Doubles and Valerie finished 2nd in Cricket Singles.
Shannon Vitale won 501 Singles at the San Diego Memorial in California and played in the London Bridge Classic in Arizona. Ther she won both 501 and Cricket Doubles, she was 2nd in 501 Singles and Mixed Doubles and Top 4 in Cricket Singles. Sandy Haas won 301 Mixed Doubles at a local tournament in Chattanooga, TN. Kirsten McCandless and Pam Briggs were at a local fundraiser for the Joe Andruzzi Foundation in Massachusetts where they help raise over $3000.00. Pam won both Singles and doubles while Kirsten finished 2nd in Doubles and Mixed Doubles and Top 4 in Singles. Jennifer Mounts was in California for a soft tip event. |
Winmau 501 National Championship
The USSDA held their first Winmau 501 National Championship in Myrtle Beach, SC and the field included 4 Kryptonite Girls, or at least that was the plan. Unfortunately Kay Hoover had airline issues and was not able to make it to join Sandy Hudson, Candi Ellis and Lora Josey. Lora ended up Top 8 while Candi and Sandy met in an All K-Girls Final in which
Sandy prevailed to win the third National Championship of her career. Ghost on the Coast
The Ghost on the Coast drew six K-Girls to Myrtle Beach and they produced some nice results including a pair of All K-Girls Finals. Stacey Pace and Sandy Hudson teamed up to sweep Ladies Doubles 501 and Cricket. Stacey won the MVP and topped Sandy in the 501 Singles Final. She also won Mixed Doubles Cricket and earned Top 16 in the Blind Draw and Singles Cricket.
Sandy would win Singles Cricket over Paula Murphy and finish 2nd in 501 Singles and Top 8 in the Blind Draw. Paula finished 2nd in Cricket Singles and 501 Doubles. She was also Top 4 in mixed doubles Cricket, Top 8 in Doubles Cricket and Top 16 in 501 Singles. Lora Josey was Top 16 in Mixed Doubles Cricket while Candi Ellis finished Top 16 in 501 Singles. Kay Hoover was Top 4 in Cricket Singles. Witch City Open
The Minute Man Dart League is the largest league in America and they hosted their biggest event in October, the Witch City Open in New Hampshire. Paula Murphy and Stacey Pace joined locals Pam Briggs and Bette Cunningham for the fun and high level competition.
Paula won both 501 and Cricket Singles in this tough room and finished 2nd in Mixed Doubles Combo. She was also Top 4 in Triples and Cricket Doubles and Top 8 in 501 Doubles. Stacey won Mixed Doubles Combo and Mixed Doubles 501. She finished 2nd in both All K-Girls Singles and was Top 4 in 501 Doubles and Top 8 in Cricket Doubles with Pam. Stacey also earned Top 8 in Triples and Top 16 in the Blind Draw. Pam also was Top 4 in Triples, Top 8 in Mixed Doubles 501 and Top 8 in both 501 and Cricket Singles. Bette was 2nd Place in 501 Doubles, Top 4 in Doubles Cricket and Top 16 in 501 Singles. Lora's Big October
Lora Josey was quite busy in October traveling throughout the Mid Atlantic region in search of fun and competition. Earlier we told you she was at the Winmau 501 nationals and Ghost on the Coast in Myrtle Beach, SC. She also played in the Virginia States Tournament in Virginia Beach, VA where she won the Blind Draw and recorded Top 8 finishes in 501 Singles, Cricket Singles, 501 Doubles and Mixed Doubles.
She was at the Virginia Moose Association Tournament in Mechanicsville, VA and won Mixed Doubles Combo. She also finished Top 4 in Singles Cricket and Top 8 in Doubles 501 and 4 Person Team event. Her Virginia State team hosted the North Carolina Ladies State Team but lost 11-8 in Richmond, VA. She also competed with her Fuquay Varina team in a North Carolina Cup match where they won a tight match 13-11 over Jacksonville, NC. All told, 6 events over 5 weekends and a lot of miles up and down the road. |
